Music NL 2011
Spent this last weekend at MusicNL Conference and Awards in St. John’s. Showcased Saturday night and met with a lot of delegates and friends. Looking forward to working with Heavy Weather on a new video to promote my forthcoming record “The Last Guitar”. Also confirmed a songwriters tour in Maine for next fall.
Congratulations to my friends and new MusicNL Award winners – Craig Young and Dan Bursey. You guys deserve it!
Anyone in the Lewisporte Area on November 11th can catch my Remembrance Day House Concert at The Stairs residence, 104 Main Street at 7:30 pm. I’ll be covering all my war-related songs as well as others. (Dan Rubin Photo)
Stanfest 2011
Hey everybody. Just returned from playing the Stan Rogers festival in Canso, Nova Scotia. The weather was great and had an excellent time.
The festival is extremely well-run. Troy and Jennie Greencorn have so much to be proud of. It was an honor to be playing the same festival as artists like Dan Hill, Judy Collins & Peter Yarrow. Hope to return soon. (Photo by Ted Palmer)
2011 ECMAs
This year’s ECMA conference in Charlottetown, PEI, was great. The
ECMAs are always well organized and jam packed with great music, prime
networking opportunities, and so much more. The highlight for me though would
have to be performing at the Songwriters Association of Canada’s showcase at
St. Paul’s Anglican Church. The night was hosted by none other than Dan Hill and
the surprise special guest was friggin’ Bruce Guthro. A great night!

December update
Hey everybody! It’s been awhile since my last entry. I’ve been busy writing and have just begun recording my fifth album, tentatively titled “Last Guitar”. I’ll be working closely this time with Craig Young who’s known for his guitar work in Terri Clark’s band. Other players on the record include my good friend Glen Parsons on bass, as well as, a host of others from Nashville. Things are shaping up nicely and it will be out some time in the new year.
Finally, I’m very much looking forward to the upcoming Christmas concerts to get into the spirit of the season. I’ll be hosting the 5th Annual Good Tidings Concert in Lewisporte this Monday night (December 6th). A great community concert with all proceeds going to Daffodil Place. I will also be performing at this years VOCM Happy Tree Concerts on December 13th and 14th at the St. John’s Arts and Culture Centre. Two great causes that help make Christmas special for everyone. Hope to see you there. All the best. Watch the moose.
South West Regional Folk Alliance
It was an honor to officially showcase at the 2010 South West Regional Folk Alliance Conference in Austin, Texas (Sept 29 -Oct 3). It was great to get back to Texas again and see so many people that I had met at the Kerrville Folk Festival in June. The showcases were great opportunities to present my music to new audiences and to hear some very talented artists. I am already looking forward to next year’s conference to see you again! Thanks to Dalis Allen and all the volunteers.
